- This article is about the game mode in Kirby Star Allies. For Another Dimension in a more general context, see Another Dimension.
Hyness' prayer opened a path from another dimension...to new dimensions untold. What possibilities await? Will you be a Dream Friend? Will you face even greater evil? Collect hearts and explore new worlds. The light of hope is yours to create. | — Kirby Star Allies Pause Screen description |
Heroes in Another Dimension is an extra mode in Kirby Star Allies, which was added in version 4.0.0 on November 30th, 2018. It acts as a shorter more-challenging adventure which utilizes the abilities of Kirby and his Dream Friends to solve difficult puzzles and fight more powerful parallel versions of bosses from the main story mode, culminating in a battle against The Three Mage-Sisters. The Story Mode must be completed to unlock this mode, like with The Ultimate Choice and Guest Star ???? Star Allies Go!. Clearing Heroes in Another Dimension is not required for 100% Completion of Kirby Star Allies.
While the plot of this mode is only loosely connected to that of the main story, it follows Kirby and his allies as they venture into a portal to Another Dimension created by Hyness' repeated attempts to summon his dark lord, and can be seen as a follow-up to the changing appearance of The Divine Terminus shown in Guest Star ???? Star Allies Go!.

- Apr 05, 2019 The early 2018 Switch game Kirby Star Allies improved a lot over the past year thanks to a stream of free downloadable updates. The final update’s multi-hour Heroes In Another Dimension.
- Re: Another Dimension Heavy Ryona Game ^ question for the ages With things like this though, people would do well to realize things like gorn (basically, guro with the intent of exciting the viewer) are more mainstream than you would think, like in the earlier example about horror movies but also things like the Saw franchise (which was undeniably more popular than I feel it should have been ).

Contents[edit]
There are five total stages in this mode. In the first four stages, Kirby and his Dream Friend allies tag in and out using the Hero Doors in order to solve puzzles and collect as many Friend Hearts as possible. Each of these stages has 30 Friend Hearts that can be collected, with the first one in each stage always being a mandatory pickup. The final stage contains no hearts or hero doors, and is merely the place where Kirby and co. fight the last set of bosses in the game. As such, a total of 120 hearts can be collected, and a final grade will be given to the player depending on how many hearts were collected at the end of the game. How many hearts were collected also determines how the story ends - with a sufficient number allowing Kirby to befriend the Three Mage-Sisters and Hyness, while also breaking the curse that they were held under.
The following list links to a detailed overview of each stage in Heroes in Another Dimension:
- Heroes in Another Dimension - Dimension I (unlocks Dimension II, III and IV when cleared)
- Heroes in Another Dimension - Final Dimension (unlocked by clearing the four main dimensions)
Dimension II, III and IV can be cleared in any order. In the first playthrough, cleared dimensions cannot be revisited. After clearing Final Dimension once, all five dimensions will become available for revisit (to collect the remaining Friend Hearts if any are missing).
Bosses[edit]
In the first four dimensions, four Parallel bosses are fought, known as 異界四天王 ('The Otherworldly Four Kings') in the Japanese and Chinese versions:
- Dimension I: Parallel Woods
- Dimension II: Parallel Twin Kracko → Parallel Big Kracko
- Dimension III: Parallel Meta Knight
- Dimension IV: Parallel Dedede
In the Final Dimension, the final bosses are:
Notes on bosses[edit]
Each boss is based on a previous boss from the Story Mode of the game. These bosses have double the health of their original counterparts. In particular, The Three Mage-Sisters have the highest health (3400; Star Bullet=52) of all single boss battles in Kirby Star Allies.
In the rooms before the four parallel boss battles, several food items can be found which match their characteristics:
- Parallel Woods: watermelon slices ×3, cherries ×3 (fruits)
- Parallel Twin Kracko & Parallel Big Kracko: fried eggs with two yolks ×2, two-piece sushi set ×2, onigiri ×1 (food that is two in number or looks like eyeballs)
- Parallel Meta Knight: pudding ×1, macaron ×1, strawberry shortcake ×1, milk baby bottle ×1 (sweets, which are originally Meta Knight's favorite food)
- Parallel Dedede: roast chicken ×2, meat ×2, omurice ×2, bread ×1, coffee ×1 (mostly meat)
Tossing Friend Hearts has no effect on the defeated parallel bosses, unlike the Story Mode bosses Whispy Woods, King Dedede, and Meta Knight.
Endings[edit]
The following details what kind of ending will play out depending on how many Friend Hearts were collected before entering the Final Dimension.
Another Dimension Game Allie - FC2
The End?[edit]
If Kirby has collected 99 or less Friend Hearts before the Final Dimension, 'The End?' (False Ending) will play out:
- 19 Friend Hearts or lower - F Rank
- 20-49 Friend Hearts - E Rank
- 50-79 Friend Hearts - D Rank
- 80-89 Friend Hearts - C Rank
- 90-99 Friend Hearts - B Rank
Clearing Heroes in Another Dimension once regardless of rank will unlock Soul Melter EX of The Ultimate Choice, provided that Soul Melter has also been cleared.
Happy Ending[edit]
If Kirby has collected at least 100 Friend Hearts before the Final Dimension, 'Happy Ending' will play out:
- 100-109 Friend Hearts - A Rank
- 110-120 Friend Hearts - S Rank
- 120 Friend Hearts - Perfect (required to crown the main game's save file and view an extra ending illustration)
Happy Ending will unlock The Three Mage-Sisters as a Dream Friend and the last three Celebration Pictures to assemble. Marx will appear as a surprise boss in the Happy Ending staff roll, just like King Dedede in Story Mode and Meta Knight in Guest Star ???? Star Allies Go!.
Music[edit]
The theme of the dimension levels, 'The Legend of Last World' (Track 188 in the Jukebox), is a remix medley of various final level themes from the Kirby series, including:
- 無限のチカラ (Limitless Power) from Kirby's Return to Dream Land
- 'Beautiful Prison' from Kirby: Triple Deluxe
- 'L86' from Kirby: Planet Robobot
- 'Rainbow Resort' from Kirby's Adventure
Additionally, the themes of dimension clear results (Track 191 in the Jukebox) and 'The End?' staff roll (Track 194) are remixes of the False Ending theme from Kirby's Dream Land 3.
Trivia[edit]
- Outside of the stage select area, boss prep rooms and the fights themselves, Kirby is unable to discard his ability, even if he did not get it from a Hero Door.
- The mode was originally titled 'Another Dimension Challenge' during development. The abbreviation, 'adc', is still used to name the mode in the game files.
- The artwork for the official trailer and website (See Heroes in Another Dimension#Video Gallery) is not found in the game itself.
- The hollowed-out design of the Point Stars found in this mode is a reference to the Extra Mode in Kirby's Return to Dream Land.
- In the French and Dutch versions, S Rank is known as A+ Rank instead.

- In the title screen and main menu, characters occasionally pop up to play some skits. Some of them are particularly funny. Highlights include:
- Coo or Birdon flying in. Chef Kawasaki then shows up and chases them to cook them. Sometimes, at one scene it's Birdon noticing three Kawasakis wishing to cook him at once.
- Characters randomly tripping while NESP is laughing at their misfortune. One must wonder if he is the one who made them trip.
- Especially funny when Meta Knight or Dark Meta Knight 'trips'... or rather, hops up to not trip.
- There's also the chance that four allies can be seen tripping sequentially. Doubly funny if it involves Meta Knight and/or Dark Meta Knight.
- Kirby and friends running away from Marx who's rolling on a ball after them. One of them trips, but fortunately jumps up just in time as Marx continues the chase.
- A similar scene involves Kirby strolling in and doing a stretch before two characters go running past him. When he sees that they're running from Susie in her mech suit, he starts running as well.
- Dark Meta Knight trying to pose himself as Meta Knight to two Blade Knights...who weren't outsmarted and look at each other as if telling to each other 'Is he really trying to make us believe he's Meta Knight?'. And then Meta Knight shows up, Dark Meta Knight reacts with Oh, Crap!, and then Meta Knight and Blade Knights chase him.
- A character showing up and doing their idle animation... followed immediately by Dedede coming from behind and sneezing, startling them. Double funny if it's Dark Meta Knight who gets startled. Susie's reaction is pretty funny, too—instead of looking surprised, she looks pissed off.
- Gooey's reaction is also funny as his expression doesn't change since he always looks surprised and/or baffled.
- Adeleine chasing three Gooeys in Mock Matter form while flailing with her paintbrush. Guess she had enough Dark Matter for her life.
- Adeleine and Ribbon hiding from either Dark Meta Knight, or Marx, or Gooey in his Mock Matter form before they disappear. The pair then celebrates.
- Kirby coming in, standing for a while, and then Daroach arrives with the Squeak Squad. Storo hops and stomps on Kirby, flattening him, just like in the intro for Kirby: Squeak Squad.
- Daroach being chased by Nago. No, seriously. Nago actually chases him. That cat really wants to catch that mouse.
- Alternatively, it can be Wester riding on Rick who chases Daroach.
- A character showing up, followed by Dark Meta Knight popping up and chasing them. Dark Meta Knight is then seen flying away as four different-colored versions of the same character show up in the scene, like what happens to Kirby in Kirby & the Amazing Mirror.
- Taranza yawning to himself and looking rather tired, only to get swept over by three Broom Hatters. When he gets up, he looks pretty annoyed as he tightens his scarf.
- Adeleine and Ribbon meeting up with Susie as they start to have a nice chat. Taranza shortly notices the girls, looks away and straightens himself up to join in on their conversation. When Taranza turns back, he is surprised to see that the three have run off and chases after them.
- Meta Knight walking in before Susie walks in as well. Later, Meta Knight notices her and gets startled as Susie waves to him, and then he runs away from her while Susie chases him. Seems like Susie turning him into a cyborg gave the normally stoic knight some unpleasant memories.
- Better yet, Dark Meta Knight arrives mid-chase. Susie stops her chase and starts getting ideas about turning him into a cyborg too, chasing him off-screen instead.
- Daroach flying off in the Lor Starcutter, with a distressed Magolor chasing after him.
- Susie inspecting two 'mechanical' allies, Plugg and Gim... and then abruptly pulling a laser pistol on Bonkers, who she chases offscreen.
- Francisca and Flamberge settling down to hang out, only for Francisca to abruptly jump up and leave at the sight of a Burnin' Leo and Blade Knight with a Sizzle Sword approaching. Flamberge shakes her fists and pulls out her sword, angrily chasing them away.
- Kirby walking in, ready to take a nap, only to see King Dedede being chased by Taranza. Kirby attempts to give chase, returning from the other side of the screen to show Kirby still running after Taranza, who is flying away and carrying an unconscious Dedede, a la Kirby: Triple Deluxe.
- Dark Meta Knight walking and checking his wings before stretching. Birdon then shows up while he's doing so and mimics the sequence— without Dark Meta Knight noticing.
- Magolor making King Dedede and two other characters almost fall asleep. Even funnier if one of them is Rick, as he winds up nodding off for longer than the others. When he wakes up, he's surprised to see that everyone else has already left and runs off to join them.
- Kirby and Dedede chasing after a Bonkers and Waddle Dee. Immediately afterwards Kirby walks back onto the screen with his belly full, followed by Bonkers and Waddle Dee but Dedede is nowhere to be found, implying Kirby ate him off screen.

- After defeating King Dedede at the end of the first world, the credits start to roll as if you'd already beaten the game. When the HAL logo shows up, they quickly rewind back as the heart that was possessing the good king flies off.
- Speaking of Dedede, one of the songs you can find in the sound test isn't a song or jingle. It's King Dedede, chowing down before hopping onto the battlefield and roaring. The same one that plays before his boss fight.
- While we're on the subject of Dedede, if you enlist him as one of Kirby's allies, he will help without trouble, but he'll have a blank look on his face the whole time. As if he's thinking, 'How did I end up helping this pink menace?'
- Dedede's expression and stiff pose during Friend Train is also hilarious, as if he's thinking 'How was I even roped into any of this!?'
- You can also find the 'credits' music rapidly rewinding as a seperate track in Sound Test. It's as goofy as you'd expect.
- You can choose to not pick up the Sword ability when facing Meta Knight by flying up to the ledge he is standing on, which causes it to collapse. After which Meta Knight lands by the sword he is offering and just kicks it away, splash-art and all. You can also just wait around for about a half minute instead. If you listen closely, you can hear Meta Knight whistling something as he waits.
- The end of this game's extra mode. The same credits from the beginning of the main game play again, this time leading to the mysterious black hole that was behind Hyness. Galacta Knight comes out, complete with Boss Subtitles and theme song... only for a butterfly to appear and replace him with Morpho Knight, as if HAL was taking a shot at themselves for the perceived overusenote of Galacta Knight. An extra mention has to go to Galacta Knight himself, who looks around in confusion at both the players and the butterfly.
- Among the Artist ability's many sculptures is one of Susie, modeled after a Greek statue— with disproportionate head to body size, of course. After the Wave 2 update, Artist's painting attack has a chance to summon a sketch of a fat Kirby (the way he looks while holding something in his mouth), which waddles forward goofily and doesn't stop to attack.
- The Friend Throw move has one ally (Suplex, Fighter, Beetle, Gooey) slug another with enough force to comically bounce around the entire room, destroying everything in the way.
- Whenever you enter a door to another area while using Friend Star, whoever's currently at the very back will give a quick wave to the camera just before the Iris Out.
- Mixing Stone Kirby/Rocky with Blizzard/Splash/Bluster turns them into the Ice + Stone ability from Kirby 64 — that is, a sliding curling stone. That's mildly entertaining on its own, but it's also compatible with Gooey and Rick, since they both have Stone in their movesets. The sight of a hamster's face on a curling stone is certainly something.
- Rick acts more hamster-like in this game compared to earlier appearances. This includes one of his Idle Animations, where he decides to lie down and sleep... but he keeps fidgeting around, unable to find the most comfortable sleeping position. This animation goes on for over a minute and is just as ridiculous as it is adorable. Watch the whole thing here.
- One of Daroach's moves is to pull out a blue treasure chest that's actually a jack-in-the-box of the 'lord of the underworld', Dark Nebula.
- The ending of Guest Starimage for the Wave 2 dream friends is mostly cute, seeing each of them, Ribbon included, drawing with crayon on a large sheet. Dark Meta Knight, in particular, draws his sword (that is, he draws a picture of his sword with a crayon)... badly.
- The fact we actually got to see Dark Meta Knightpeacefully drawing with Adeleine, Ribbon, and Daroach is hilarious by itself.
- When using the Friend Train ability, the lead character gets a hat that looks like a cross between a train conductor hat and a smokestack, replacing their default hat if they have one. Daroach doesn't lose his Nice Hat. He simply has the train hat stacked on top of it.
- Daroach also looks rather perturbed when leading the Friend Train, which is extra hilarious when you realize that he’s supposed to be the cool and sly leader of the Squeak Squad.
- One of Magolor's attacks is throwing Gem Apples that explode. In other words, playing as Magolor lets you kill enemies by literally throwing money at them.
- At the end of Magolor's trailer he wakes Kirby up with throwing Gem Apples near him and exploding them before chuckling at surprised Kirby.
- The boss defeat animations are humorous as usual:
- Pon and Con are sent pinballing around the room, eventually colliding into each other head-first with bugged-out eyes. Goldon and Silvox do the same, but they slam into each other right in front of the screen as opposed to in the background.
- The second fights with Francisca and Flamberge end with them being catapulted into space, complete with twinkle.
- Kracko pretends to be defeated, before stopping, comically narrowing his eye, and then splitting into Twin Kracko.
- Both parts of Twin Kracko are reduced to just an eye (plus some cloud bits) as expected, but the presence of two eyes and some bricks in the center gives it the appearance of a surprised face.
- Upon reaching Hyness, the priest seen in the intro, he goes into a rant that speeds by faster and faster through each auto-scrolling text box. Though a lot of what he's actually saying establishes a dark context, it's presented in a very silly way.Hyness: We are the masters of a power driven to the far reaches of the universe, and we have but one desire! Can one such as you possibly fathom how dearly we have clung to this dream across the aeons? How could you! You couldn't! Never ever ever! We who once faced those who were in such fear of our power that they sealed us away and banished us to the edge of the galaxy! US! As if THAT loveliness wasn't enough, they tried to erase our very existence from history! RUDE! Only through our magic were we able to overcome their science and achieve great prosperity! We alone were responsible for stopping that repulsive nightmare of a galactic crisis, yet this is how you repay us! This won't stand! It won't be forgiven! It won't be forgotten! Never ever EVER! Those who called us mad, are you listening? You left us at the edge of the galaxy to be forgotten, then went along your merry way, probably living somewhere pretty and peaceful! But know this! Your future is a farce! You have none! We, masters of a matter most dark, vow to be restored, as foretold in the book of legend, which everyone thought was just a fairy tale! It WASN'T! We have already obtained the vessel that contains our Dark Lord, and he will soon awaken and shower us in compassion! Look! The vessel of our Dark Lord is filling up even as we speak! Now the time for his greatness to enter our world has come! Welcome to a new history! A new age! The age of awesome! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DARK LORD! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
- During the fight with Void Termina's second form, you can free the Three Mage-Sisters and Hyness from the sacks they're being kept in. Once you do, they drop food items which correspond to each released mage. Francisca drops melon soda, Flamberge drops hot-dog, Zan Partizanne drops pudding. Hyness? Baby bottle of milk.
- The pause info for Void Termina's fourth form starts off heroic before ending with 'After that, lunch and a nap!'. Yes, even while fighting the destroyer of everything, Kirby's still thinking about food. Made even funnier once you realize that Kirby defeats powerful incarnations of evil on a regular basis — it's just an average day for him.
- Before that line, the description says 'Let's just beat this guy already.', almost as if the pause screen itself is getting annoyed at how long this guy is taking to beat.
- During Whispy Woods' battle, if you only use fire attacks on him, he'll eventually catch fire and do nothing but flail around with an Oh, Crap! face while his health bar slowly depletes. The blank look on his face once he's defeated in this manner is nothing short of priceless. What's more, you can also do this to Yggy Woods and Parallel Woods.
- Even funnier in Whispy's case because you can hit him with a Friend Heart afterwards and he'll shower you with presents, such as food and 1-Ups, as if nothing happened. This isn't an oversight either; you'll notice that where he'll usually drop fruit items, he drops cooked and grilled items if you burned him.
- The Daroach section of Dimension III in Heroes in Another Dimension includes a puzzle where you have to release Spinni so he can travel through a small tunnel and cut a rope holding a platform up. If you don't catch on quickly enough, you'll still be underneath the platform when Spinni cuts the rope, dropping it on Daroach's head for an instant death.
- In Heroes in Another Dimension mode, you end up fighting corrupted version of Hyness called Corrupt Hyness. Once you deplete his health enough, his hood falls off as usual. The funny part comes when he summons the Three Mage-Sisters as in the main mode battle...except he doesn't. He summons wooden logs with their articles of clothing and wigs resembling their hair instead. He even performs the same animation he would if the Mages were there, but since he obviously can't drain the life force from plain old wood, the sequence is silent save for Hyness's incantations and the music starting up. He swings with them as usual and even uses Friend Circle with them! Just the mere absurdity of that is absolutely hilarious. What makes it even better is the fact that, given this is a stronger form of Hyness, somehow the LOGS have more power than the petrified mages.
- Speaking of Hyness, his hood will fall off during both encounters with him, at which point a text box pops up... and he lets out a verbal keysmash as he reveals his bizarre face:
Hyness: Juh? JUH… JUH! JUHYAMBAVITRIGOKOPOKOJAAAH!!- As for his corrupted form:
Corrupt Hyness: Juh? JUH... JUH! VUNMAJICIOUSEVITIRIGGAMAPOP—!- What’s funnier is the fact that thanks to a handy translation guide in the Flavor Text, you can actually understand what Hyness is trying to say. Doing this, the message he blurts out in the Corrupt Hyness fight roughly translates to “very tasty painful hope”. A very bizarre Word Salad, indeed.
- Another funny moment from the translation guide from Corrupt Hyness, apparently in Jambandran, “Jawaii” means cute. Jawaii is probably derived from the Japanese word “kawaii”, which has a similar meaning. Hearing this, one cannot unsee the image of Hyness calling things “jawaii” like an anime schoolgirl.
- While the context for the fight against the Three Mage-Sisters is kinda depressing, it's quite funny that they decide to attack you all at once. Talk about really wanting to beat Kirby, huh? it only gets more ridiculous when your other three allies are the mages.
- Even more amusingly, it's possible to get juggled by the Mages' attacks, especially after they pull out their special weapons; even if your health gets cleaved through like a hot knife through butter, it's admittedly quite funny watching Kirby and Co. fly back and forth across the screen by a combination of water, fire, and electric beams.
- It's also worth noting that it's possible for the game to struggle to even render all of their attacks, especially when there's not only FIFTEEN magesnote in battle at once, there's also so many projectiles THE GAME SLOWS DOWN TO A CRAWL. Guess magic really is powerful, no?
- Despite being otherwise unchanged from original Soul Melter difficulty, Goldon and Silvox receive a new pause screen Flavor Text for Soul Melter EX.Fighting off treasure hunters is hard work, and these two dream of setting off on an adventure.Rumor has it they've built a raft... so why not leave?
- When you beat Heroes in Another Dimension mode the game gives you a notification showing that the Ultimate Choice's Soul Melter EX mode is unlocked in the style of the Hard Mode notification from the first game. It even has the same code. In addition, the notification shows an 8-bit Dedede giving an Oh, Crap! expression.
- Kirby's expression when you land on it is one that likely suggests he overdid it on the hot sauce as three additional bottles are floating and pouring their contents into the dish in addition to Kirby's.
- When selecting this difficulty, the game calls it the 'TRUE Mega-Final-Ultra-Omega battle'. Such a superlative is just too ridiculous to take seriously.
- What's your reward for managing to beat what we're pretty certain is the hardest challenge in Kirby history? The ability to switch to Kirby's original design. Now you can play through all of Story Mode/Heroes in Another Dimension as Kirb!
- Not only that, but the timing of said unlock has made people speculate that said Kirb is a reincarnated Void. This helps his presence in the game become even funnier thanks to the possibility that the ages-old God of the Kirby multiverse is strutting around Popstar with an unflinching derpy expression.
